You can't beat mother nature - July 16th
Dear "observers",
today almost everything was too much for the Zenriders. The weather - too good / the landscape - too breathtaking / the streets - too winding / the ride - too long / the night - too dark! But let's start with a more detailed explanation.
After the zenriders left their luggage at the hotel today they could ride the fast lane heading for the Glacier National Park. After just an hour riding and 75 Miles they stopped at the West bank of Flathead Lake. While having a cigarette at that scenic place another biker stopped by and they began to chat with that lonesome rider coming from Canada who could share their need to talk technics in Metric units it. He had no specific plans; the "stranger" joined Franz and Gregor for their ride up to Glacier in burning heat; by passing through unbelievably beautiful scenery, breathtaking cliffs and glimpsing snowfields there was always enough to talk about in breaks and enough things to stop for and have a break. That was the reason why the "Chat Pack" didn't really get further but finally reached Logan Pass at 2000m at 30*C. The way down from the Pass got a bit faster-slightly but just enough so that Greg and Franz scrached their footpegs twice while setting a new track record for State Street 209 between Browning and East Glacier. When they finally arrived in East Glacier they found a nice restaurant with outside tables and great pasta where to talk about the awesome ride they just had. While talking about family, profession and hobbies the "Stranger" told them his birthday >July 30th< a Leo! Again! A strange special ride/idea! Again!
Are all Leos the same? Are all Canadiens all born July 30th? [ ;) @Mark] After recharging the pack took some more gas together, joined a cigarette and had to say goodbye.
The Zenriders wish their new friend and lately reborn biker Julius from Vancouver Island, Canada lots of fun and always enough streets for his bike.
After the goodbye and a short look at the watch G&F were shocked 8.30 pm; sunset and 130 Miles to go. Finally, after 12+hours on tour and 434Miles they arrived safely in Missoula at 10.45pm in dark night. Unfortunately they were too tired to move and therefore cannot call the surely interesting contacts given by the DeWeeses in Missoula anymore.
Die Landschaftsbeschreibung fuer den heutigen Tag hat netterweise schon Barbara im Gaestebuch uebernommen und diesem ist wirklich nichts hinzuzufuegen. U N G L A U B L I C H !! (O-Ton: "You Germans make the best bikes in the world - why the f*** are you riding these pieces of sh**!?!?!"). All das fuehrte dazu, dass die heutige Etappe von der zeitlichen Dauer bisher die laengste und anstrengendste war.
